Once that sewer line is buried, nobody confirms it went in right. Under the New Home Buyer Protection Act, sewer defects fall under your Year-Two systems warranty — that window closes at 24 months. After that, the repair is yours, regardless of when the problem started. Typical replacement in Edmonton: $9,000–$25,000+ — not counting the driveway, deck, or landscaping that has to come out to reach it. A scope at your 11-month inspection documents defects while the builder still owns them.
